I want to put up some external links on my blog, but have been hesitant to take the plunge. Why? Because I’m a little uncertain about blogging etiquette. Of course I’ll link to the fantastic blogs some of my friends keep. Should I link to blogs I read, even if the person don’t know me and certainly don’t know that I read their blog?

More importantly: Is linking to someone’s blog a big committment? If your blog gets boring - so boring that I stop reading it - can I take you off my list? Is it hugely offensive to be taken off of somebody’s link list? Because I will take you off if you stop writing interesting things. And I won’t even think twice about taking you off if you stop writing altogether. I love cleaning things up, throwing things away, organizing, getting rid of the dead weight. I’ll take that link right off.

And if I have dear friends who keep blogs I don’t particularly love, do I have to link to those? Sheesh. This gets complicated really, really quickly. What to do, what to do.
